CyberLink Offers Linux Version of PowerDVDSoftware to be bundled in Turbolinux 10 F OS. (May 28, 2004)
CyberLink Corp., a leading developer of digital video software and training solutions, announced today that PowerDVD Linux, the Linux version of the award-winning PowerDVD playback software, will be included in Turbolinux 10 F OS.
PowerDVD Linux is based on the Windows version of PowerDVD and offers the same main features. The 2-channel Dolby Audio Support enables users to enjoy theater-like audio quality. Dual Subtitle Display has the option to display two language subtitles simultaneously on a user’s movie screen, making this feature great for language learning. Furthermore, PowerDVD Linux provides complete DVD navigation functions as well as changeable skin technology. In addition, PowerDVD Linux features low CPU consumption, allowing users to play a DVD and run other applications at the same time.
In some markets like Japan, Linux-based computer users are growing in large numbers. Sales of the Turbolinux 10 OS ranked one of the top ten best-selling PCs in Japan during the first quarter of this year. “We are glad to establish a relationship with Turbolinux and provide our award-winning PowerDVD to their multimedia Linux computer,” said Alice H. Release of Turbolinux 10 F OS featuring PowerDVD Linux will be in May.28th for Japan. Shipment in the U.S. and China is scheduled at the end of June.
CyberLink is currently developing a Linux version of PowerCinema, an all-in-one entertainment software that can turn computers into home entertainment centers. PowerCinema is capable of video, photo, and music playback, in addition to burning DVDs, all of which can be operated via a remote control.
