Toshiba Ships Dual-Format DVD Burners
Desktop drive offers 8x DVD±R write speed

Mar. 22, 2004 — Toshiba has launched two new models in its lineup of DVD writers. The new models, available in portable and desktop configurations, offer dual DVD-R and DVD+R functionality. They're available now.

The SD-R5272 desktop model offers DVD±R write speeds of 8x, DVD±RW write speeds of 4x and CD-R write speeds of 32x. And it offers DVD-ROM reads speeds of 12x and CD-ROM read speeds of 40x. The mobile SD-R6372 weighs in at about 7 ounces and measures 5.04" x 0.5" x 4.96". It offers DVD±R write speeds of 4x, DVD±RW rewrite speeds of 2x, CD-R write speeds of 16x, DVD-ROM read speeds of 8x and CD-ROM read speeds of 24x.[an error occurred while processing this directive] The desktop model is available now for $149.
