Drag your button onto the canvas (or stage or whatever you want to call it). Then place your asset into the button. [an error occurred while processing this directive]And voila! The subject is zoomed to twice the size of the original. (The button on the right is the original; the button on the left is the new button with the zoom mask.)![]() However, the subject is still a bit out of frame. No problem. Remember, we created this mask with the purpose of freedom of movement in mind. So select your button by clicking on it once. Then hold down the Shift and Option keys and click on the button again. Now drag the asset into position. ![]() And voila again! The subject in Button 3 above is now positioned properly. Note that this is something you can only do when your mask is of a different aspect ratio from your asset, but no matter what you do, you'll only be ale to move the asset up and down or left and right, not both. So, if you want a left-right panning mask, use the method seen above. If you want an up-down panning mask, transform your asset along the horizontal, rather than the vertical. The illustration below shows the range of movement assuming two different mask configurations--horizontal and vertical--using a 200 percent transformation. The black portion indicates the mask, while the red overlay indicates how an asset will be able to pan based on that mask shape. (Note that you have less freedom of movement with a horizontally stretched mask, since it will be closer tot he original aspect ratio of your asset.) ![]() If you have any further questions, be sure to visit me in the Apple DVD Studio Pro forum here.
